Our Story
Minneapolis Kitchen & Bath was founded in 2009 by Mike Hansen, who started the company as a one-man tile operation working out of South Minneapolis. After a decade as a carpenter and finishing tile setter — including an apprenticeship under one of Minneapolis's larger commercial contractors — Mike decided to bring his skills directly to residential clients who wanted the same level of craftsmanship in their own homes.
The early years were built on referrals from neighbors and friends. Mike's work spoke for itself: tight grout lines, level floors, honest timelines, and a genuine respect for the homes he worked in. Word spread quickly in neighborhoods like Linden Hills, Kenwood, and Tanglewood, and the phone kept ringing.
By 2013, demand had grown enough that Mike brought on his first full-time crew member. By 2016, the company had expanded to full bathroom and kitchen remodels, adding a licensed plumber, electrician, and dedicated project management to the roster. Sarah Kaminski joined the team in 2017 as lead designer, bringing formal interior design training and a deep appreciation for the clean, Scandinavian-influenced aesthetic that resonates with so many Twin Cities homeowners. Tom Reinholt came aboard in 2019 as project manager, bringing fifteen years of construction management experience and a systems-driven approach to scheduling and client communication.
Today, Minneapolis Kitchen & Bath operates as a 12-person team completing 50–70 projects per year across Minneapolis, St. Paul, and more than 40 Twin Cities suburbs. The company has completed over 500 remodeling projects since its founding — from simple cosmetic bathroom refreshes in Richfield bungalows to full kitchen and bath transformations in Wayzata and Edina. Through all of that growth, the core values have stayed the same: do excellent work, communicate clearly, and treat every client's home with the same care we'd want for our own.
"I started this company because I believed homeowners deserved to have a contractor they could trust completely — someone who showed up when they said they would, did what they said they'd do, and stood behind the work afterward. That's still the standard we hold ourselves to every single day."

Serving Minneapolis, St. Paul & 40+ Suburbs
We operate throughout the seven-county Twin Cities metro area. If you're in Minnesota and within the metro, we almost certainly serve your community.
Why Homeowners Choose Us
We earn your business through how we work — not through marketing promises.
Local Company — Not a Franchise
We are a locally owned small business, not a national franchise chain. When you hire us, you deal directly with the owner and the people doing the work — not a call center or a regional manager. Our reputation in the Twin Cities is everything to us, and it shows in how we operate.
Licensed in Minnesota
MN residential contractor licensing is not optional — it exists to protect homeowners. Our license (#BC123456) is current, verifiable on the MN DLI website, and backed by bonding and insurance. We never subcontract to unlicensed tradespeople.
We Handle All Permits
Every project that requires a permit gets one. We handle the application, the inspections, and the final sign-off. You never need to chase down a permit yourself. Permitted work protects your investment and keeps your homeowner's insurance valid.
Clean Jobsites Every Day
We clean up at the end of every work day. Your home is not a construction site — it's your home. We use floor protection, dust barriers, and staged material storage to minimize the impact of construction on your daily life.
Written Warranties
We back our labor with a written 2-year workmanship warranty. If something we installed fails due to a workmanship issue, we fix it at no charge. Manufacturer warranties on products pass through to you directly.
Transparent Pricing
Our written estimates are itemized line by line. You know what you're paying for materials, what you're paying for labor, and what the permit costs. We don't pad line items or use vague allowances to keep the headline number low.
